DENVER—Rep. Diana DeGette is raising an alarm about drug shortages, and visited a Denver hospital Monday to talk about a bill she thinks could alleviate the problem.
The Democrat held a news conference at Denver’s Saint Joseph’s Hospital to talk about how the shortage affects her district.
Last week President Barack Obama ordered the Food and Drug Administration to take new steps to send out early warnings about looming shortages and try to avert them.
DeGette was joined by a physician and a pharmacy professor. Her bill awaits a hearing in the House.
DeGette planned to meet with business owners in Denver Tuesday and meet with new U.S. Commerce Secretary John Bryson on Wednesday.
