Denver’s morning commute will be messy, but if an altered forecast holds true, not nearly as messy as it might have been.

About 1 to 2 inches of snow is forecast to fall in metro Denver, down from earlier predictions of 4 inches or more. The worst of the storm will pass to the east and south, with Colorado Springs getting up to 6 inches.

Much of the Eastern Plains remains under a winter storm warning until noon, with up to 9 inches and winds of 25 mph expected.

“We’re going to be on the northern fringe of it,” meteorologist Todd Dankers said of metro Denver. “It looks like the worst of it will pass south and east of us, but just a little bit of a left turn could put us right back in it.” Joey Bunch, The Denver Post
