Littleton firefighters battled a garage fire late last night, dousing the blaze before it could spread to a home.

The fire broke out at about 11:40 p.m. at 7273 S. Costilla St., said Division Chief Doug Ireland, a Littleton Fire Department spokesman.

Firefighters found a “fully involved garage fire” with flames shooting out of the structure, Ireland said.

The fire was contained to the garage and did not spread to the home. There were no injuries.

It took about 30 minutes to extinguish the fire.

Four people, two adults and two children, residents of the home, were displaced by smoke and water damage.

Fire investigators are working today to determine a cause.
