Several homes were evacuated in Boulder County on Saturday while crews battled a wind-driven wildfire, but the evacuations were lifted about 12:20 p.m.

There were three fires. The first started about 10 a.m. in the Boulder Heights area, near Lee Hill Drive and Deer Trail Road, said Rick Brough, a spokesman for the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office. It burned about 2 acres and was contained about noon. Emergency evacuation notifications were sent to 163 phone numbers. Preliminary reports indicate that a garage may have been damaged and one car destroyed, Brough said.

A second fire started shortly afterward, in the 3000 block of Four Mile Canyon. The grass fire didn’t spread to trees.

The third fire, at 12:05 p.m. near the 4100 block of Ute Highway, was contained to an area of 400 square feet.

Sheriff Joe Pelle issued a ban prohibiting all outdoor fires until noon today due to the high winds. Gusts of 84 mph were recorded in Lyons, while Boulder saw gusts of 71 mph, the National Weather Service told the Daily Camera.

Boulder police responded to many reports of downed power lines, small grass fires and debris blowing into traffic.

The organizers of the Boulder Farmers Market canceled Saturday’s market after a woman was hit in the head by a tree limb early in the morning, the Daily Camera reported. She was treated and released.
