Northern Colorado fell to New Mexico State 89-75 on Saturday in its season opener in Greeley.

With the score tied 41-41 at the intermission, the Aggies were able to hold the Bears to 2-of-11 shooting from the 3-point line in the second half, avenging last season’s ESPNU BracketBuster loss to Northern Colorado.

The Bears, who lost 66 percent of their scoring from last season’s senior class, were led by redshirt sophomore Tate Unruh’s 15 points.

Metro. St. 73, Winona St. (Minn.) 69

The Roadrunners hit 6-of-6 at the line in the final 25 seconds to secure a home win over the Warriors. Demetrius Miller hit a 3-pointer to tie the game with 2:52 left and then hit four free throws in the final 25 seconds to finish with 16 points. Reggie Evans scored a game-high 24 points, while Jonathan Morse finished with a double-double, totaling 15 points and 10 rebounds.

WOMEN

Metro St. 64, Nebraska-Omaha 61

Kristin Valencia scored a career-high 20 points and grabbed nine rebounds as the Roadrunners defeated Nebraska- Omaha for their first win over a Division I opponent since 2003.

Alyssa Benson made five 3-pointers, scoring 15 points off the bench.

Bradley 59, N. Colorado 49

PEORIA, Ill. — D’shara Strange recorded a triple-double with 13 points, 12 rebounds and 11 steals, but the Bears committed 28 turnovers and made just 15-of-26 free throws in the loss.
