LOVELAND, Colo.—A Catholic radio station in Loveland is in trouble with federal authorities for using too much power at night.

The Federal Communications Commission has fined KPIO-AM $4,000 for repeated violations.

Catholic Radio Network spokesman Jim McLaughlin tells the Loveland Reporter-Herald ( ) the problem was caused by faulty monitoring equipment at an unattended station and the station is appealing the fine.

The FCC low-power rules are designed to protect radio stations from interfering with other stations.
