FORT COLLINS — Colorado State linebackers coach Bernard Clark made Mychal Sisson’s playing status official in two words Tuesday night.
“He’s playing,” Clark said.
And just like that, the senior linebacker is cleared to play Saturday against 19th-ranked Texas Christian in Fort Worth. It will be Sisson’s first game since breaking his right ankle Sept. 10 against Northern Colorado.
“I’m going to see the field this weekend, no matter what,” Sisson said. “How much I’m going to see, that’s the only (unknown) part. We’ll see how the week’s practice goes.”
Clark said he would like to get Sisson about 40 plays against TCU. That’s fine with Sisson, who just wants to play. Sisson went through a full practice Tuesday and reported no issues with the ankle.
“I felt a lot better than I did last week on my ankle,” Sisson said. “I felt I didn’t have that hesitation that I had last week. This week, I was going and doing everything normally.”
Sisson is getting ready to play any of the three linebacking spots. Linebacker is one of the few CSU positions that, despite a couple of injuries, has continued to flourish.
Sisson is back, but the availability of two CSU offensive linemen for Saturday’s game remains uncertain.
Senior tackle Paul Madsen, who has a high ankle sprain, didn’t practice Tuesday. But he insisted he would be on the field against the Horned Frogs.
“I’m doing good,” Madsen said. “I’m playing this weekend. That’s the hope anyway.”
Sophomore center Weston Richburg tried to practice Tuesday, but his broken right hand made that difficult. He went to see a doctor after practice and is questionable to play against the Horned Frogs.
