DEER TRAIL, Colo.—Arapahoe County sheriff’s officials are investigating whether a mobile home fire that injured an 8-year-old boy was caused by faulty furnace wiring.

The fire was reported around 10:40 p.m. Monday in Deer Trail. The boy was taken to a hospital with undisclosed injuries.

Sheriff’s officials said Tuesday the home was a total loss, and three cars parked nearby were damaged.

They say preliminary findings indicate the fire may have been caused by faulty furnace wiring.
