A 27-year-old man was beaten to death with a rock during a brawl involving as many as 10 people outside a Colorado Springs sports bar, authorities say.

William “Josh” Landrum was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to a news release by Barbara Miller, spokeswoman for the Colorado Springs Police Department.

Police were called to the Hondos Sports Bar, 4659 Centennial Blvd., at 2 a.m. Saturday, Miller said.

As the crowd dispersed, police found an unconscious man lying in the parking lot, she said.

The man, later identified as Landrum, was bleeding profusely from head and neck injuries. Witnesses told police the victim was pummeled with a softball-size rock.

The suspects in Landrum’s beating ran to the west of the bar as sirens sounded. No suspects have been arrested. The investigation is continuing.
