Firefighters in Denver doused an apartment fire on Sunday night.

The fire started at about 9:15 p.m. at The Breakers, 9099 E. Mississippi Ave., said Lt. Phil Champagne, a Denver Fire Department spokesman.

When firefighters arrived flames were shooting through a first floor window, Champagne said.

Firefighters had the fire out in about 20 minutes. A unit above the apartment that burned was also damaged.

Based on preliminary findings investigators believe the cause to be accidental, but it remains under investigation.

Gun ammunition inside the unit was set off by the fire. No one was injured by the ammo or the fire.
