Authorities are still looking for two men who robbed and shot the owner of a Denver check cashing business early Friday.

The men fled the EZ Check Cash at 3940 West Alameda in a small red four-door Ford with tinted windows, police said today.

One man is described as Hispanic, 18 to 21 years old, 5-feet-7 and about 140 pounds. He has a slim build and brown eyes.

He and the other man were both dressed in all black and wearing ski masks.

According to police, the men approached the owner of the store in the parking lot around 9:21 a.m. and demanded he turn over the bag he was carrying. When the owner tried to keep the bag, the men shot him.

An EZ Check Cash employee told The Denver Post the owner often brought additional cash to the business on Fridays to handle payday requests from customers.

“I think someone was following him and already knew what he has,” the employee said.

The owner was in stable condition Friday at Denver Health Medical Center. Police have not released his name.
