Ten people have been arrested in El Paso County on charges they took part in an identity-theft ring that used stolen mail to create and cash counterfeit checks.

All of those arrested are El Paso County residents who are accused of fleecing 69 local residents.

Those arrested as of today on various charges are 26-year-old Michael Robert Morgan, 27-year-old Samantha Kay McKinnis, 24-year-old Kyle Richard Miller, 24-year-old Cynthia Kathleen Goodboe, 51-year-old Tammy Marie Gelsinger, 30-year-old Michelle Lee Perrino-Thomas, 28-year-old Marco Antonio Gonzalez Jr., 25-year-old Patrick Dean Dillon, 31-year-old Nichole Lynn Haynes, and 30-year-old Shilo Marie Ann Humphrey.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Department and the U.S. Postal Service conducted a three-month investigation that led to the arrests.

“This group was very organized and worked together to commit these crimes,” said El Paso County Sheriff Terry Maketa said in a media release.
