Gov. John Hickenlooper and Denver Mayor Michael Hancock will head west this week on a two-day trip aimed to help bolster and retain businesses in Colorado.
On a visit to California on Thursday and Friday, the pair will meet with venture capitalists as well as business, academic and community members to discuss job creation, innovation and economic development.
In recent years, California has been a focus for Colorado businesses when it comes to economic development.
A joint news release sent out by the governor’s and mayor’s offices says the goals of the trip are to strengthen existing business relationships, increase companies’ commitment to Colorado and encourage executives to look at the state when there are opportunities for growth and expansion.
“There are companies in California that have a strong presence in Colorado, and we want to grow these relationships,” Hickenlooper said.
Denver’s Office of Economic Development will pay for costs incurred by city representatives, and the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade will pay for the governor. Kurtis Lee, The Denver Post
