Two men suspected of stealing $600 of Christmas toys from a car in Colorado Springs were arrested by police Tuesday morning.

The Grinch-like incident unfolded about 12:45 a.m. when an officer spotted a vehicle speeding north on Jetwing Drive, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department.

Moments later, the vehicle crashed into a fence near the intersection of Jetwing and Astrozon Boulevard.

Two people bolted from the vehicle, and officers chased one down. The other was arrested later. Officers found toys at the crash site and determined they came from a vehicle in the 3800 block of Patrick Drive.

“Officers brought the toys back to a mother who was elated to have her family’s Christmas presents returned,” police said.
