FORT COLLINS, Colo.—Investors say they doubt a Fort Collins con man let out of prison so he could repay his debt will be able to keep his promise.
Ricky Van Vleet cut a deal with prosecutors to reduce his prison sentence from 84 years to 10 years so he could repay a portion of the $30 million from bogus investments that authorities say included a now-bankrupt digital music business.
According to the Denver Post ( ), a District Court judge in November cut Van Vleet’s sentence to four years in the hopes he’ll be able to repay victims sooner.
Investor Thomas Moy says the sentence is too light for crimes that hurt so many people.
Van Vleet’s attorney did not return phone calls.
