Aurora police said this afternoon they have found the gold Toyota Sequoia investigators were searching for in connection with a fatal hit-and-run Saturday night.
The department did not announce an arrest or release the name of the vehicle’s owner, but said the SUV was seized and towed to a secure lot, awaiting a search warrant.
Gregory Havers, 55, was killed crossing South Havana Street near Mississippi Avenue after he got off a bus just before 8 p.m.
He was struck first by a gold SUV and then by a 1995 Toyota Corolla, which dragged him more than a block. The second driver stopped and was not charged.
Officers found debris left by the impact, which told them what kind of SUV they were looking for. Witnesses initially said it might be a Ford Explorer, according to previous press releases from Aurora police.
