Police are investigating a string of armed robberies in Federal Heights during which one business was robbed twice in five days.

In less than a week, three robberies took place at two cash-advance business located less than a mile away from each other, said Lt. Gary Toldness, spokesman for the Federal Heights Police Department.

Investigators suspect the robberies were coordinated by two or three people.

At 12:07 p.m. on Dec. 1, a man was spotted outside the Check Into Cash at 8311 Pecos St., hiding a shotgun or rifle under a blanket. He entered the building and pointed the gun at the clerk.

The man was in the store for less than a minute before he fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. The clerk described the man being 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing about 160 pounds. He was wearing a ski mask, gloves, blue jeans, a red hooded jacket and tennis shoes, Toldness said.

At 10:07 a.m. on Dec. 3, a man wearing a yellow and black jacket was seen hiding a large gun under a blanket outside the First American Check Advance at 1557 W. 84th Ave., a few blocks from the first robbery.

The suspect entered the building and demanded cash before he ran away. He was described as 5 feet 4 inches, weighing about 160 pounds and wearing a gray and black ski mask and gloves, Toldness said.

At 12:07 p.m. on Dec. 5, a man wearing a yellow and black jacket hid his gun before walking into the same Check Into Cash that was robbed four days earlier.

The same clerk who was working during the first robbery was also working when the man entered the store on Dec. 5 and demanded cash, Toldness said. Even though the suspect had something covering his face, the clerk said it did not appear to be the same man who robbed the business the first time.

No one was injured during any of the robberies.

“It’s concerning because it seems like they live in the area and they are kind of desperate,” Toldness said.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call the Federal Heights Police Department at 303-428-8833.
