An Arvada man has been arrested as a suspect in causing a fatal traffic crash in Aurora.

Jonathan Ichrist, 36, was arrested Thursday at his home and taken to the Jefferson County Jail, according to an Aurora Police Department news release.

He will be transferred to the Arapahoe County Jail to face multiple charges including vehicular homicide, vehicular assault, driving under the influence of alcohol and reckless driving, police said.

On Nov. 26 at about 12:30 a.m., Ichrist was driving 92 mph west on East Iliff Avenue, where the speed limit is 40 mph, and went through a red light at the intersection of South Havana Street, police said.

Ichrist’s black 2011 Hyundai slammed into a 2004 Pontiac. The driver of the Pontiac, Catherine Wells, 22, of Denver, died in the crash. A passenger in her Pontiac was injured. Ichrist and a passenger in his vehicle were also taken to a hospital after the crash.

Further details on the injuries were not released.

Ichrist’s bail has been set at $50,000.
