CASTLE ROCK — A man accused of shooting a Douglas County sheriff’s deputy in the arm has been convicted of attempted murder, punishable by up to 48 years in prison.
Prosecutors say 52-year-old Richard Wesley Anderson had failed to pay a bar tab last year and threatened a bar manager who asked that he pay it. They say he also placed a gun to the head of a customer.
Prosecutors say Anderson fired 13 rounds from a semiautomatic handgun at Deputy Michael Garcia, who pulled him over. Garcia returned fire and shot Anderson twice.
