An Amtrak train heading toward Union Station in Denver had a minor derailment Saturday morning, but no injuries were reported.
Two cars of the passenger train, which originated in Chicago, had a slow-speed derailment near the Park Avenue traffic bridge, said Amtrak spokesman Steve Klum.
The back wheels of a baggage car and the front wheels of a dorm car were knocked off the track, Klum said. There were no people in the two cars, which were located immediately behind the engine.
Klum said 177 passengers plus crew members were on the train, which travels to Emeryville, Calif., near San Francisco.
Workers split the train and attached a locomotive to get the two cars moved and the passengers to Union Station, from where they were to continue their trip.
A short time later, a second derailment was reported by an out-of-state caller. Fire crews responded to 1800 21st St. , but didn’t find anything, said Denver Fire Department spokesman Lt. Phil Champagne.
