DENVER—More than 3,500 people living in shelters for the homeless are expected at Christmas party in Denver.

The Father Woody Christmas Party is being held Sunday in a ballroom at a Sheraton Hotel in downtown Denver. It includes a family-style meal and Christmas presents.

The party is named for the late Msgr. Charles Bert Woodrich, known as Father Woody. Organizers include the Daniels Fund, the Archdiocese of Denver and the Sheraton.

Thirty years ago, Father Woody began a tradition of handing out $10 bills to the homeless to celebrate Christmas.

The giveaway is now $20 bills. This year’s giveaway was Friday. Sunday’s party is a follow-up to that.
