CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Cory Higgins, the University of Colorado’s all-time leading scorer, has found a home with the Bobcats after being cut by the Nuggets.
Higgins, who will be Charlotte’s fifth guard, is the son of Bobcats president of basketball operations Rod Higgins and said he expects more scrutiny playing for his father.
“A lot of people are going to think I’m here just because of him,” Cory Higgins told the Charlotte Observer. “That’s not the case. I worked hard to get here and I’m here to prove to everybody, and the coach staff, that I belong here and I keep this spot.”
Higgins scored 2,001 points for the Buffaloes, tying him with Richard Roby for the school record.
• The Bobcats and Bucks were without their starting forwards for the regular-season opener.
For the Bobcats, Tyrus Thomas was out with a left ankle sprain. For the Bucks, Luc Mbah a Moute, who was expected to start, was out with tendinitis in his right knee.
