DENVER—The mother of a teacher shot and killed in Denver yelled at the ex-boyfriend accused in her murder during a court hearing Wednesday.

Twenty-seven-year-old Ryan Miller appeared in court to be advised of the first-degree murder charge filed against him. He’s accused of shooting Andrea Roan in the head as she drove away from her home Dec. 16.

The Denver Post ( ) reported that Roan’s mother wailed as Miller was brought into the courtroom and screamed an expletive at him later when he was escorted out.

Roan had recently ended a brief relationship with Miller, and a judge had ordered Miller not to contact her.

She was a first-year teacher at a school in Commerce City.
