Armed men invaded an Edgewater home early this morning, fleeing on foot and making off with a safe.
No shots were fired and no one was injured in the incident, which happened about 1:30 a.m. in the 2800 block of Ingalls Street, said Edgewater Police Chief Mary Heller.
Six people were in the home at the time, but only two — a mother and her 15-year-old son — were initially confronted, Heller said.
A man then walked in on the incident and two robbers ran off with a small safe.
One of the robbers had a handgun and a second man wielded a baseball bat, Heller said.
A third robber may have been involved.
Police swarmed the area but did not find the robbers.
The incident remains under investigation.
