COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—A Fort Carson soldier has pleaded guilty to injuring his 8-month-old son in a fit of anger.
The Gazette reports () 24-year-old Spc. Daniel Sheffield pleaded guilty Monday to child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury. He could face up to 16 years in prison at a sentenced hearing set for March 12.
Sheffield was arrested in July after providing Colorado Springs police with varying accounts of how his son ended up hospitalized with a skull fracture. Police say he allegedly admitted throwing a bottle at the baby to get him to stop crying.
