COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—A group led by University of Colorado Hospital says it has won approval from the Colorado Springs City Council for its proposal to lease Memorial Health System.
Colorado Springs residents will be asked to approve the lease in an upcoming election.
A special task force had recommended University of Colorado Hospital’s proposal to the City Council in December among bids submitted by five organizations to take over the city-owned Memorial Hospital.
If voters approve, Memorial would join a new hospital system that University of Colorado Hospital and Poudre Valley Health System are forming, and Children’s Hospital Colorado would operate a specialty “hospital within a hospital” at Memorial.
