Q: I Googled myself and found three business connections listed for me that are completely false. I tried to write and call Google to get them removed but haven’t had any luck. How can I get these removed?

A. You’re largely on your own here, because there’s a very limited list of items that Google will remove from its search results. The things Google will remove are: your Social Security number or government ID number, your bank account or credit card number, an image of your handwritten signature, or your name or the name of your business on an adult-content site that is believed to be “spamming Google’s search results.” For other types of information, Google insists you go to the owner of the Web page where the erroneous information exists and ask for it to be removed.

Once the original website has removed the information, Google will accept your “webpage removal request” to eliminate any “outdated information” from that site.
