STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo.—Quicksilver Resources executives say their first horizontal well on Wolf Mountain in Routt County has demonstrated it can produce 500 barrels of oil per day.

Vice President of Finance John Hinton said Wednesday the yield is expected to be enough oil to be profitable.

According to Steamboat Today ( ), the oil was found in Niobrara Shale lying more than a mile beneath Northwest Colorado.
