Former Arapahoe County Judge Ethan Feldman today announced his bid to become District Attorney in the 18th Judicial District.

Feldman, a Democrat, left the bench at the end of December to formally run for the office now being held by District Attorney Carol Chambers, who is term limited.

“Having spent nearly four decades as a prosecutor, an attorney in private practice, and a judge, I have devoted my career to keeping our community safe, respecting the law, and seeking justice for victims of crime,” Feldman said in a written statement.

“I am running for district attorney because I have the experience, knowledge, and the proven record of leadership to revitalize the DA’s Office so that we may more effectively prosecute offenders, promote community safety, and protect victims,” he said.

Feldman is among the first candidates to make his intentions public. Current 18th Judicial District prosecutor Leslie Hansen has set up a website in her bid to become district attorney.

The 18th Judicial District encompasses Arapahoe, Doulgas, Elbert and Lincoln counties.
