Thin Mint fans might not be swayed, but the Girl Scouts are tempting palates with a new cookie this year. In celebration of its 100th anniversary, the organization introduced Savannah Smiles, a cookie that’s a tribute to founder Juliette Low’s birthplace in Savannah, Ga. The cookie is crescent-shaped, lemon-flavored cookie and dusted with powdered sugar. More things you need to know:
• Cookie sales began Sunday and will go through March 4. Sales are all door-to-door and at locations like supermarkets this year; no more pre-ordering in Colorado. Cookies are $3.50 per package and all the money raised in the state supports scouting programs here. Scouts with smartphones can process credit-card orders.
• On Feb. 2 area restaurants are particpiating in Dine Out for Girl Scouts, donating a percentage of sales that day to the scouting organization. Among the eateries included: Panzano, Table 6, bittersweet, 1515 and Cafe Options. For a full list, visit bit.ly/DO4GS. More at .
