A 31-year-old man has died from injuries he sustained while snowboarding Monday at Steamboat Ski Area, Steamboat Today reported.
Aaron Easter was found unresponsive at about 11:30 a.m. at the intersection of the Quickdraw and Buckshot trails in the Sunshine Bowl area.
Passers-by found Easter and performed CPR until the ski patrol arrived.
Steamboat Ski and Resort spokeswoman Loryn Kasten told the newspaper that Easter was snowboarding alone.
Easter’s father, Robert, is a longtime professor and high-ranking administrator at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
The family released a statement late Tuesday through Denver Health Medical Center: “The Easter family is grateful to the ski patrol and the personnel at Yampa Valley Medical Center for their effort and care. They would also like to encourage that when engaged in outdoor sports, to do it with a partner.”
