FORT COLLINS, Colo.—Two Republican presidential candidates who have given up on the Florida primary vote are hitting Colorado in hopes of a strong showing in next week’s caucuses.

About 1,100 people turned out to see Ron Paul at Colorado State University on Tuesday while Rick Santorum visited Lone Tree.

Both have ceded the Florida primary to front-runners Newt Gingrich and Mitt Romney.

Paul made no mention of Florida at CSU and didn’t name any of his Republican opponents.

Paul also has stops planned in Denver and Colorado Springs. Santorum plans further stops Wednesday and Saturday.

Colorado’s presidential precinct caucuses are next week. The caucuses are non-binding; Colorado’s 36 Republican National Convention delegates will be chosen at a state assembly held April. But the precinct caucuses can be evidence of a candidate’s support.
