Rhonda Blanford-Green, associate commissioner of the Colorado High School Activities Association, has considerable credentials, so it shouldn’t be surprising that she’s in demand in certain circles.
Officials at the Nebraska School Activities Association agree and have made her one of four finalists for its executive director position. Blanford-Green, the CHSAA, is scheduled to be interviewed by mid-February.
She has been with the CHSAA for 16 years; is active in multiple national programs, including Title IX; and is a regular figure in state affairs, including centralizing the state track meet.
She starred at Aurora Central and Nebraska — her name is featured at the Cornhuskers’ Bob Devaney Sports Center — as a hurdler.
Blanford-Green said it’s one of those situations that simply arose and it can’t hurt to listen. “I love what I do here,” she said. “But I’m excited about exploring the opportunity.”
