David Neslin, who oversaw the implementation of Colorado’s comprehensive oil and gas rules, is stepping down as director of the state Oil and Gas Conservation Commission. Neslin, 53, right, said he will become a partner in the law firm Davis Graham & Stubbs.
“I look forward to continuing to work in collaboration for productive solutions to energy and natural-resource issues,” Neslin said.
Neslin was appointed acting director of the commission in November 2007 and piloted the overhaul of Colorado’s drilling regulations — a long and politically charged exercise. Oil industry executives predicted the rules would hurt drilling in the state.
The rules, considered among the most comprehensive in the country, were adopted in 2009. Neslin then became director. The commission staff’s Tom Kerr will serve as acting director. Mark Jaffe, The Denver Post
