DENVER—The Colorado State Patrol says it won’t make any major changes to its training program following an exercise in January that left three cadets getting medical attention.

State Patrol Sgt. Mike Baker tells KUSA-TV in Denver () that academy staff saw three cadets exhibiting symptoms of potential medical problem during the exercise and immediately contacted local medical centers. The State Patrol cited privacy laws in declining to release more details.

KUSA cites an unnamed attorney for the association that represents State Patrol officers as saying at least three cadets suffered from renal failure during the Jan. 9 exercise, including one cadet who is still hospitalized.

A State Patrol review of whether its training program was too rigorous found what happened Jan. 9 to be an “anomaly.”
