Metro Denver gasoline prices are up over the past week, although still among the cheapest in the nation.

The average price for regular gas in Denver is $3.01 a gallon, up 2 cents from $2.99 a gallon one week ago, according to the website

The national average for regular is $3.47, up 3 cents over the past week.

“Retail gasoline prices have continued to slowly rise across a majority of the United States,” said senior petroleum analyst Patrick DeHaan. “With the exception of one state — Wyoming — all states are seeing their gasoline prices averaging over $3 again, with some of the largest cities — New York City and Los Angeles — closing in on $4.”

Metro Denver prices are 7.6 cents per gallon higher than one year ago and 5.5 cents higher than a month ago. The national average has increased 12.3 cents per gallon during the last month and stands 34.8 cents per gallon higher than a year ago.
