Ice fishers are smiling because the open water is gone — even Carter Lake and Horsetooth Reservoir have capped (no ice fishing). South Park waters are slow. For good trout action, try Red Feathers, Michigan Creek (North Park) and Williams Creek (Granby). Hot pink jigs tipped with wax worms fished shallow are producing. Lake trout action has slowed with the exception of Williams Fork. Front Range waters Chatfield, Bear Creek, Aurora, Boyd and Cherry Creek are seeing lots of ice fishers, even though action is slow. The Arkansas River in Pueblo is producing a few nice fish on midge patterns. If you go, expect company.
