Max Martinez has staged a big fashion show almost every year of the 27 he’s had his MAX stores in Colorado. His reason is twofold: He gets to share with his customers the collection of a favorite designer, and a Denver charity stands to receive a lot of money. This time around, Martinez and partner Scott Seale present Zero + Maria Cornejo’s spring line March 16 at the Exdo Center. The event benefits the Mike McMorris Cystic Fibrosis Center in the Breathing Institute at Children’s Hospital.
Cornejo, who was born in Chile, opened her first store in New York in 1998 and named it Zero.
Martinez says what he admires about the collection is that “it’s modern and wearable — women can wear it whether they’re a size 2 or a 14.”
Among the celebrities who have been photographed wearing Cornejo’s designs are Michelle Obama and Cameron Diaz.
At a kickoff for the fundraiser last week at MAX in Cherry Creek North, organizers announced that they have already raised $115,000, but tickets are still available at all levels and the goal of $200,000 is within reach. Prices range from $50 standing room admission to individual seats at $100-$500 and sponsorships are $2,500 to $12,000. More information at maxfashionshow
