GOLDEN—A Lakewood man accused of fatally striking a tow truck driver with his SUV has pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death.

Zachariah Dobler entered the plea Wednesday in Jefferson County. The tow truck driver, Alan Dilley, was preparing to tow a vehicle involved in a drunken-driving accident investigation at an intersection in Arvada last July.

Prosecutors say Dobler did not stop after his vehicle threw Dilley 120 feet. Arvada police arrested him a few blocks from the scene.

The district attorney’s office originally filed nine charges against Dobler, including first-degree murder with extreme indifference and violation of bail bond conditions.

His sentencing is scheduled for April 11. He faces 24 to 48 years in prison if convicted.
