DENVER—A 48-year-old poker champion from England is facing murder charges for allegedly killing his wife and dumping her body in western Colorado in 1997.

The Denver Post ( ) reports a preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 15 in the case of Marcus Bebb-Jones, who is accused of killing Sabrina Bebb-Jones. A judge will decide at the hearing whether there is enough evidence to take the case to a jury.

Marcus Bebb-Jones reported his wife missing in 1997 when the two owned a hotel in Grand Junction. A rancher found her skull in a remote wooded area on Douglas Pass in Garfield County in 2004.

British police arrested Marcus Bebb-Jones in Worcestershire, England, in 2009. He was extradited after prosecutors said they would seek only a life sentence, not the death penalty, if he is convicted.
