COLORADO SPRINGS — A woman who ran out of gas on the way to take her toddler to the emergency room was helped out by police and firefighters early Wednesday.

According to police, the distraught woman called for help about midnight near the intersection of Austin Bluffs Parkway and Bridle Pass Drive. She was taking her 2-year-old to the hospital, ran out of gas and didn’t have money for more. An ambulance transported the woman and her child to the hospital while police officers and firefighters pushed the vehicle to a gas station, filled it with gas and then drove it to the hospital.
