COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—A Fort Carson soldier convicted of abusing his infant son has been sentenced to jail time and probation.
Daniel Sheffield is an active duty soldier with Fort Carson’s 43rd Sustainment Brigade. While he was out on bond, he was restricted to the post and not allowed to see his wife or kids before his sentencing on Monday.
According to KKTV-TV ( ), the infant suffered a skull fracture and was hospitalized.
Sheffield told police he was dancing around with his son when he lost his balance and fell. He told police the baby hit his head on a table, but later admitted to police that he threw a half-full bottle at the baby while he was in his playpen.
