LONGMONT – — Even if FasTracks derails, there are still plans for First and Main.
On Monday, the city will show off ideas for redeveloping the area near First Avenue and Main Street, the planned site for Longmont’s future bus/train station.
The station is due to come by 2015, though the “train” part of that is up to the Regional Transportation District board. On March 20, the board will decide whether to follow through with its voter-approved rail service to Longmont, or to offer bus rapid transit service instead.
Either way, the city’s concept plans should hold up, if there’s enough interest in the area in the first place, city transportation planner Phil Greenwald said.
