STEAMBOAT SPRINGS –  —Quicksilver Resources will have to wait until next week to learn the fate of its application for a special use permit to pursue a second oil well on Wolf Mountain.

The Routt County Board of Commissioners was scheduled for a hearing leading to a potential vote Monday night after the Planning Commission voted, 7-2, on March 1 to recommend its approval. Instead, the commissioners voted to continue the scheduled hearing until March 20 after learning at 8:30 a.m. Monday that public notice of the hearing was not properly given.

Commissioner Diane Mitsch Bush apologized on behalf of her colleagues for the inconvenience caused to the applicants and members of the public.

“We know people have traveled a great distance and we know people cleared their schedules,” Mitsch Bush said.
