STEAMBOAT SPRINGS – —  Two items related to the Steamboat Springs Airport will appear on the City Council’s agenda today.

City Council members will consider whether to approve a resolution to use grant funding to relocate a portion of Routt County Road 44 and will consider a first reading of an ordinance to buy land near the airport.

Public Works Director Philo Shelton said the Colorado Division of Aeronautics awarded the city $400,000 this year to relocate about 1,900 feet of the dirt C.R. 44 because the road is beneath the airport’s runway protection zone. He said it would be moved about a half-mile north where Woodchuck Ditch crossed C.R. 129.

“It basically moves C.R. 44 out from under the runway protection zone,” Shelton said.
