A 42-year-old Colorado escapee was arrested Wednesday as he tried to cross back into the United States at the border in Nogales, Ariz., by Customs and Border Protection officers.
Hime Corona was initially arrested on drug charges, but the agency did not not elaborate on the charges or the escape in a media release today and court records do not indicate an arrest, escape or fugitive under that name.
A spokesperson for the Colorado Department of Corrections was not immediately available this evening.
Corona was traveling with a 44-year-old woman, who was not named, when his identity and arrest warrant were discovered during a records check and vehicle inspection at the border, according to the Department of Homeland Security.
The agency stated that Corona and the woman are U.S. citizens.
