COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—Attorneys are preparing for opening statements in the trial of a former Colorado Springs police officer accused of inappropriately touching students.
The Gazette reports ( ) a jury was seated Thursday in the trial of Joshua Carrier, who has pleaded not guilty to more than 200 criminal counts. Opening statements are set for Friday morning.
The former school resource officer and volunteer wrestling coach at Horace Mann Middle School was arrested in May.
Several children have told investigators Carrier touched them inappropriately while conducting wrestling team weigh-ins and skin checks.
Defense attorney Christopher Decker has called Carrier the victim of a rush to judgment and of parents eager to sue.
