El Paso County sheriff’s investigators are trying to determine whether the so-called “Machete Bandit” is linked to a body found under a suspect’s trailer in Manitou Springs.
The body was discovered by workers cleaning up around the trailer Monday.
“They found something that appeared to be human remains wrapped up in a blanket, and they immediately contacted police,” said El Paso County Sheriff’s Lt. Lari Sevene.
The body was identified as 32-year-old Crysta Chisolm. An autopsy later in the week determined her death was a homicide, Sevene said. But an exact cause of death has yet to be determined, and investigators do not know how long Chisolm had been under the trailer.
The trailer was taken to a secure location for a search of more clues, she said.
The trailer belonged to 43-year-old Howard York, who is in the El Paso County Jail on $25,000 bail for investigation of aggravated robbery.
Police say York held a machete to the neck of an employee at a Papa Murphy’s Pizza on Jan. 30 during a robbery.
York was arrested Feb. 10 in connection with the robbery at his trailer in Manitou Springs.
