An 11-year-old boy was injured this morning when he was hit by a car as he dashed across an intersection to get to a school bus stop.

The accident happened at about 6:10 a.m. at the intersection of South Havana Street and East Alameda Avenue, said Lt. Charles DeShazer, an Aurora Police Department spokesman.

The boy ran across the intersection and was hit by a northbound car in the middle lane, DeShazer said.

The boy suffered an arm injury and was taken to a local hospital. His injuries are not life threatening.

The driver of the car was not cited, DeShazer said, because the boy was at fault for crossing illegally.
