BRECKENRIDGE — The Town of Breckenridge agreed to pay $97,000 in lodging expenses for the Winter Dew Tour as part of a possible deal to bring the event back to Breck for the next two years.
The money will cover the cost of 750 room nights for Dew Tour staff and competitors during the mid-December event in 2012, town officials confirmed. The details of the agreement for 2013 are still unclear.
Breckenridge leaders called the deal a victory for the town.
“To characterize it as a win-win is not doing it justice,” Councilman Mike Dudick said. “It’s a great deal for the community.”
The Dew Tour has not officially announced a host city for 2012, and representatives would not confirm the details of any deal with the town or the Breckenridge Ski Resort.
